Théâtre du Rêve presents “Queen Bess”

  • 7 Stages Back Stage Theatre 1105 Euclid Avenue Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30307 United States (map)

Experience the magic of Théâtre du Rêve, Atlanta’s unique French-language theatre company, as they celebrate American legend Bessie Coleman in their spring production, Queen Bess by Amina S. McIntyre.

March 13-29, 2026 at 7 Stages in Little Five Points.

Bessie Coleman lived in the early 1900s as a mixed-race Black and Native American woman. Due to Jim Crow restrictions and gender discrimination in the U.S., she earned her pilot’s license (the first ever earned by a Black woman or a Native American, and the first international license earned by any American) by teaching herself French and then traveling to France to study. More than 100 years later, her resourcefulness and accomplishments tell a story that continues to challenge and inspire.
