With TUNISIA, Clyde Chabot revisits her family history of migration, from Sicily towards Tunisia then France, to invite each to plunge into his own memory, to question migratory flow, the fear and the desire of the other one, and our representation of the foreigners.
“Regard Noir” follows acclaimed French actress and award-winning director Aïssa Maïga on a road-trip from Paris to Los Angeles and São Paulo to explore the historical roots of systemic racism and the impact of discrimination and stereotypes in films and series on societies and their respective popular culture.
SICILIA covers the history of migrations in the family of Clyde Chabot, left Sicily at the end of the 19th century for the United States and Tunisia then France. She plays it herself around a big table as if the audience were her family. She shares with them a bit of Pecorino with pepper, the only Sicilian relic that has passed through generations. She has performed this show more than 150 times in France and abroad.
“Above Water” / “Marcher sur l’eau” (Orange Studio) details the life of 12-year-old Houlaye, who travels several kilometers each day to fetch water until her village unites to construct a well. This fundamentally could change the lives of a group of people who have literally been walking on water since birth.
Join us for a virtual screening of Jukebox, a fascinating film about the beginnings of Québec’s recording industry. This documentary retraces the career of Denis Pantis, the man nicknamed "the king of singles". Around him, a new generation of stars, producers, musicians and lyricists would emerge, who together would set up an "independent" record industry like no other in the world.
Join us for the "Café des Sciences" at Georgia Tech, to discover the work of two young French researchers in Atlanta: Alexis Bretin (Biology) and Kévin Garanger (Robotics). Presentations will be in French and refreshments will be served.

Ivorian writer Véronique Tadjo comes to Emory University to present an online talk followed by a Q&A. Véronique Tadjo is a poet, novelist, academic, and artist from Côte d’Ivoire. She earned a doctorate in Black American Literature and Civilization from the Sorbonne, Paris IV, and went to the United States as a Fulbright scholar at Howard University in Washington, DC. She headed the French Department of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg until 2015. Her books have been translated into several languages.
